The Opportunity - Possible Location

The Solution

Prescott Public Art (formerly the Trail Art Project) will create an artful space - a Prescott Sculpture Garden - incorporating even more art for public benefit in our city.

The images shown arre only concept examples and may not be actual locations, art or placement at the final Sculpture Garden site.

Sculptures, Community Gardens, Xeriscaping, Picnic areas, Children's Play areas, Environmental and Security features are to be in the plan

Prescott Public Art will turn a portion of Prescott into a Sculpture Garden - beautiful and an asset to the entire community. It will make Prescott even more inviting, so visitors are more likely to spend time at local businesses nearby. The impact of this additonal outdoor public art project will be an upgraded project and substantial.

GENE GALAZAN AND HIS SCULPTURES

Gene Galazan - A well-known artist in Wisconsin, Gene relocated to Arizona and continued to create three-dimensional art hammering, welding putting scrap metal together.

Gene forms abstract sculptures at home, in his studio there. One abstract work - the "Forest Harp" has recently been  installed at Flagstaff's Thorpe Park, adjacent to the Frances Short Pond, and is also visible from the Flagstaff Urban Trails System (FUTS, say "foots") - a city-wide network of non-motorized, shared-use pathways that are used by bicyclists, walkers, hikers, runners, and other users for both recreation and transportation.

Another of his most recent works is on display in the private collection of Larry and Barbara Nelson at their home in Prescott.

Additonally, Gene has in the recent past created metal horse sculptures, some of which can be seen locally inhabiting the fields at the Phippen Museum and on Glassford Hill.  And now a mare and two colts graze peacefully across from the Chino Valley Town Center. These may be the last metal horses Gene creates.

More of his art deserves to be on display, and we hope to locate much more of it in the Prescott area in the future.
