WATERFRONT TRAIL ARTISTS

mad about macramé

Summer in the Lakeshore has been enlivened in recent years by creative workshops conducted by professional artists.

During the summer of 2004, we held a series of free drop-in macramé classes for all ages. Participants helped to design and create a community macramé wall hanging celebrating their Lakeshore neighbourhood. The project's Waterfront Living theme allowed participants to create symbols, patterns, and impressions of what it's like to live close to the lake.

These activities continued through the summer of 2005, with free drop-in workshops teaching people of all ages how to macramé using two basic knots. Finished artwork was displayed on location (2797 Lake Shore Blvd. West) before touring the neighbourhood.
